My baby girl is finally about to move into her own room and she was given a piece of furniture that I had when I was really little. And because it so old it needed a face lift.. bad. I found this company that had beautiful chalk paints. Now I have never worked with anything other than household paints and acrylic paints. So, I didn’t know what to expect and how her dresser would come out. I am not a brave person and I don’t like a lot of change, but I took a huge chance and picked out 2 colors to 2-tone her dresser and I got so excited to paint when it arrived. The colors were even more beautiful in person than online.
Dixie Belle Chalk Paint was truly simple to use, and now my favorite! There was no sanding or stripping required. All I needed to do was wash the dresser down with soap and water. I’ve never worked with such a thick paint before, but it made it really nice because I didn’t have to paint more than 2 coats. The first coat did show brush strokes and the paint soaked into the dresser a little, but the second covered it really nicely. It dried completely in about 20 minutes and didn’t leave any drips, down the side if I got a little too much on the brush. I got a 32 ounce container thinking that I would use it all, and I couldn’t believe how little paint I actually used. It left enough paint that I am able to paint a 6 foot shelf for her also. I finished it off with 2 coats of a clear coat.
Our friends at Dixie Belle Paint is offering 1 fan to win a Sample Gift Bag; which includes a burlap bag with a 4 oz paint of their choice of Sea Glass, Driftwood or Drop Cloth, a 4 oz clear coat, a paint brush and a sanding sponge.
