Our dynamic team of teachers and chefs have been leading Kitchen Kid’s deliciously fun summer camps, after-school classes, parties, and in-home lessons since 2006. Our popular summer camps won Red Tricycle’s 2013 Most Awesome Camp Award! And you can watch Kitchen Kid founder, Samantha Barnes, as the Safety Expert for the Fox hit show, MasterChef Junior. Kitchen Kid believes edible education is the essential ingredient to raising healthy, happy children. For over 7 years, our team has delighted to see learning come alive in the kitchen classroom, where kids mix math, simmer science, and taste fun! Raddish adapts Kitchen Kid’s proven techniques, engaging lessons, and delightful recipes and packages them for your home kitchen.
With Raddish, my younger brother can create snacks and help us with dinner. The three recipes we received were: Carved Cucumber Boats, Painted Pastry Fruit Tart, and Doodle Noodle Bowls. Each dish teaches different things such as creativity, reading comprehension, nutrition, palate development, senses, measuring skills, knife skills, kitchen safety, and cooking techniques. Not only are there the recipes, there are “Fun Bites” activities for kids to do. The first thing we did with my brother was making cucumber art. With this, he learned how to make cucumber flowers (with the help of an adult, of course) and he ate them too!
One thing about our family is that we like to eat fruits more than we like to eat vegetables. The Painted Pastry Fruit Tart was the best choice for all of us. It starts with a “blank canvas” also known as the tart where you put on your own fruits before putting a warm jelly “glaze” on top! Not only do kids learn to cook with Raddish, they also get fun art projects to do while mom and dad are making dinner. Now, kids can’t be a real chef without an apron so we were supplied with an apron for my brother and also an iron-on apron patch. Food is art and the kitchen is the studio! Your kids will have a blast not only making their food, but eating it as well!
