The children’s book, If You Were Me and Lived in South Korea, was written by Carole P. Roman. Carole was a teacher who became a business woman; She is running a business with her husband. The first book she wrote was titled “Captain No Beard – An Imaginary Tale of a Pirate’s Life.” There are three other Captain No Beard stories. She also has a children’s yoga book, “I Want to do Yoga Too.” The other “If You Were Me and Lived In…” stories are to learn about France, Mexico, Turkey, Norway, and Kenya.
In this book, it tells about a small history of South Korea and where it is located. It also tells about South Korean foods and activities. It is all about what kids in South Korea do for fun. Near the beginning, it tells you what common names in South Korea are, three for boys and three for girls. It shows illustrations to see places around South Korean and what the typical South Korean home looks like on the inside. Little kids would like the fun South Korean words and pictures.
When my brother saw the little kids on the front, this book was the first one he wanted me to read to him. He sat there intently the whole time and even tried saying South Korea. This book was his favorite so he always brings it to me, even when I try to bring him another book. Now, he is trying to say the different words, and even read it to me and mama. Every time he tries to read it to someone, he says the same words over and over again.
I strongly recommend these books for every child no matter who they are. It will teach them without them even knowing it. The books are supposed to be up until age 8, but if they start it at a young age, they would most likely be reading it to you at that age. These books would be a great addition to any child’s collection.
